Beachbody had a powerful fitness ecosystem with thousands of coaches and millions of members following structured workout programs. However, much of the community engagement was happening outside the app, primarily in Facebook groups. This created several problems: Fragmented user experience – workouts happened in the app, but community support happened on external platforms. Limited engagement tracking – Beachbody had little visibility into how users interacted with coaches and peers outside the platform. Lower retention – users who didn’t participate in community groups were less likely to stay consistent with their fitness programs. Scalability issues – Facebook groups varied in quality and moderation, making it difficult to create a consistent experience for members. Beachbody needed a solution that would bring community, accountability, and progress tracking directly into the BODi app.
